  Statement of Transmission

 Dear Dr. Gill,
Priscilla Laguna, a developed rhetor reaching the end of the ENG 2105 journey, truly appreciates Dr. Gill’s patience and guidance to all the students enrolled in this course. The E-portfolio provides tangible evidence of the continuous effort and personal growth as a writer and critical thinker. Under the “Best Rewrites” tab of the E-portfolio’s menu, Dr. Gill will find the completed writing assignments for Units 1-4. In accordance with the class mantra, “The best writing is rewriting”, Priscilla has visited Writing Center tutors and created editing logs for each artifact to ensure that each piece follows Dr. Gill’s dictated rubric. Priscilla asks that Dr. Gill evaluate said artifacts for a final letter grade. Once again, thank you for being a valuable mentor in the classroom setting as well as a life coach.

(Provocative Title) Joining Hands to Create an Inclusive Learning Community

(Hook) As experts in pedagogy, Matthews et al., specialists in academic affairs, argue, “[In accordance with John Dewey, an educational reformer’s belief,] education should be viewed ‘as a social enterprise in which all individuals have an opportunity to contribute and to which all feel a responsibility’” (Matthews et al. 37). (Bridge) Matthews and colleagues advocate for an inclusive learning environment where students contribute towards their growth and development. (Divided thesis/stasis sentence: Opponent’s claim) Although some students oppose the transition to the novel techniques of collaborative and cooperative learning, (Rhetor’s main claim) progressive students are willing to take the vanguard in implementing these pedagogies because (Reason/Support 1) active learning has proven to be more fruitful than passive learning through lectures, (Reason/Support 2) students develop the application of social skills and team skills in everyday life and in the workplace, (Reason/Support 3) and provision of a support network from the professor and fellow students leads to greater success and retention of the course material.
